Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Saturday announced a major relief for teachers of the state, saying the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), being conducted in compliance with Supreme Court directions, will now be held in offline mode.

CM Dr Yadav made the announcement on Teachers’ Day while addressing a state-level teachers’ felicitation ceremony at the RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management in Bhopal. Governor Mangubhai Patel and the Chief Minister jointly inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Earlier, NCC cadets accorded them a guard of honour.

As many as 33 outstanding teachers from across Madhya Pradesh were felicitated during the ceremony.

‘Government committed to teachers’ welfare’

Addressing the gathering, CM Dr Yadav said his government was committed to taking all necessary decisions that could improve the working conditions and welfare of teachers.

“The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), being conducted on the directions of the Supreme Court, will be held in offline mode,” he said.

The Chief Minister also stressed the government’s efforts to improve educational standards, asserting that government schools in Madhya Pradesh would become better than private schools.

CM Dr Yadav highlighted India’s ancient Gurukul and guru-shishya tradition, describing it as one of the world’s oldest educational traditions. He said India had never sought to subjugate other nations and had historically worked towards advancing humanity with the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.

He cited Takshashila, Nalanda and Vikramashila as ancient centres of learning that attracted students from across the world.

‘Teachers shape the destiny of the nation’

CM Dr Yadav said the country’s growing stature was rooted in the contribution of teachers. “The map of a country is drawn on paper, but its destiny is shaped by our teachers in classrooms,” he said.

He added that teachers often take pride in seeing their students progress beyond them. The Madhya Pradesh government, he said, recognised and respected their hard work.

According to CM Dr Yadav, more than 50% of students featured in merit lists when board examination results are announced are from government schools, which he attributed to the guidance and efforts of teachers.

Recalling the state’s association with India’s ancient educational heritage, CM Dr Yadav said Lord Krishna had come to Ujjain’s Sandipani Ashram to receive education, where he acquired knowledge of 64 arts and 14 branches of learning. He also referred to Sage Vishwamitra’s role in shaping Lord Ram and his brothers.

Governor urges teachers to prepare students for the future

Governor Mangubhai Patel said 33 teachers had been honoured at the 2026 state-level Teachers’ Felicitation Ceremony.

He said education was no longer confined to textbooks and needed to evolve in line with global requirements and employment opportunities. Teachers, he added, should identify students’ talents, encourage them to pursue subjects according to their interests and help them develop their abilities.

Patel urged teachers to contribute towards the vision of a developed India by 2047 and encouraged them to help children become tolerant, responsible and compassionate citizens.

School Education and Transport Minister Uday Pratap Singh said teachers and parents would play a crucial role in preparing the younger generation to lead the country towards the Viksit Bharat @2047 goal.
