Will Return Stronger, Says MP CM Dr Yadav After BJP’s Defeat in Datia Bypolls
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav on Monday accepted the outcome of the Datia Assembly by-election, saying the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) respects the people's mandate and will return with greater strength in future electoral contests.
The Congress emerged victorious in the Datia bypoll, while the BJP failed to wrest the seat. Reacting to the result, Dr Yadav said the party accepts the verdict with humility and remains committed to strengthening its organisation and electoral performance in the coming elections.
Speaking to the media after the declaration of results, the Chief Minister noted that the Datia Assembly seat had previously been held by the Congress and highlighted that the BJP's vote tally had improved compared to the previous Assembly election.
BJP improved vote share, says Chief Minister
CM Dr Yadav said the BJP received 1,700 more votes in the by-election than it had secured during the previous Assembly election, describing it as a positive indicator despite the defeat.
He also pointed to the BJP's broader electoral performance, stating that the party had registered historic victories in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election, the Lok Sabha election and the Rajya Sabha polls.
According to the Chief Minister, these achievements reflect the continued support enjoyed by the party across the state and reinforce its determination to build on its electoral gains.
'We respect the people's verdict'
Emphasising the BJP's democratic commitment, CM Dr Yadav said the party fully accepts the bypoll verdict and views it as an opportunity to work harder.
"We accept the mandate of the Datia by-election with humility," he said, adding that the BJP would contest future elections with renewed energy and a stronger organisational base.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the party would perform better in the coming electoral battles and secure victories through sustained public outreach and organisational efforts.
While acknowledging the Congress' victory in the bypoll, CM Dr Yadav maintained that the BJP remains focused on expanding its support base and continuing its development agenda across Madhya Pradesh.
The Datia by-election result marked a setback for the ruling party in the constituency, but the Chief Minister's remarks underscored the BJP leadership's intent to treat the outcome as a learning experience while preparing for future electoral challenges.
