The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday has opened a major recruitment drive for aspiring teachers, with the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) inviting applications for 15,012 posts across the Secondary and Basic Education Departments.

The recruitment includes vacancies for Assistant Teachers and Lecturer Cadre (PGT) positions, offering thousands of qualified candidates an opportunity to join the state’s education system.

According to UPESSC Chairman Dr Prashant Kumar, advertisements have been issued for 897 Assistant Teacher (Attached Primary) posts in aided non-government secondary schools under the Secondary Education Department and 11,508 Assistant Teacher (Urban) posts under the Basic Education Department.

The Commission has also announced recruitment for 2,607 Lecturer Cadre (PGT) vacancies in aided non-government secondary schools.

Recruitment for 12,405 assistant teacher posts

A total of 12,405 vacancies are covered under the recruitment for Assistant Teacher (Attached Primary) and Assistant Teacher (Urban) posts.

The relevant advertisement was issued on September 15, 2026, with the online registration and application process beginning on September 16. Candidates will have until October 15 to deposit the application fee, while the deadline for making corrections to submitted online applications is October 19.

The written examination for these posts is proposed to be held on December 3 and 4, 2026. Of the total vacancies, 897 are for Assistant Teacher (Attached Primary) under the Secondary Education Department, while 11,508 are for Assistant Teacher (Urban) under the Basic Education Department.

2,607 PGT vacancies announced

The Commission has separately issued Advertisement No. 06/2026 for recruitment to 2,607 Lecturer Cadre (PGT) posts in aided non-government secondary schools.

For these vacancies, the online registration and application process will begin on September 18, 2026.

Candidates can deposit the application fee until October 17, while the deadline for making corrections in online applications is October 21. The examination for the Lecturer Cadre posts is scheduled to be conducted on December 15 and 16, 2026.

OTR mandatory before application

To streamline the application process, the Commission has implemented a One Time Registration (OTR) system. Candidates will have to complete their OTR before submitting applications for the advertised posts.

Only after completing the OTR process will candidates be able to apply online for the relevant vacancies.

The Commission has advised applicants not to wait until the final day and to complete their registration and application procedures well in advance.

Candidates advised to check eligibility

UPESSC Chairman Dr Prashant Kumar urged applicants to carefully read the detailed advertisements and instruction booklets available on the Commission’s website before applying.

Candidates have also been advised to verify their eligibility, including the prescribed qualifications and other requirements, before submitting their applications.

The Chairman clarified that the Commission will not provide separate consultations regarding qualifications or eligibility for the advertised posts.
