Haryana shocker: Man shoots wife dead with paramour’s help 3 months after marriage; held while trying to flee to Nepal
A spine-chilling murder case of a newly-wed woman, bearing striking resemblance to the recent Ketan Agarwal murder case has emerged from Haryana’s Gurugram, the police said. A woman, who got married just three months ago, was allegedly shot dead by her husband and his lover.
As per police, the accused duo have been arrested, and during a probe, the cops learnt that they meticulously planned the crime to eliminate the woman and continue their relationship without obstruction.
Identities of accused
Police said the accused have been identified as Ankit (25) and his paramour Rajni Devi (38), who were arrested after killing the former’s wife and trying to flee to Nepal in a bid to evade arrest. The cops believe the crime was a premeditated one, and the victim woman was allegedly lured to the murder spot, where she was shot dead later.
Mom files missing person complaint
The police mounted a probe after the victim woman’s mother lodged a missing person’s complaint at the city’s Manesar Police Station on May 22, 2026. She told the cops that her daughter, who had tied the knot with Ankit in February 2026, had disappeared a day ago under mysterious circumstances.
The complaint mentioned that the woman’s kin tried to establish contact with her and seek answers from her in-laws. However, when they did not receive any satisfactory response, they approached the police.
Acting on the complaint, the cops launched a search operation which led to the recovery of a woman’s body from a room in Manesar. As per a preliminary probe, she had sustained a bullet wound, resulting in her death. Police filed a murder case and intensified their investigation.
Affair prompts murder conspiracy
As per investigating police personnel, Ankit and Rajni had known each other for nearly three years, before Ankit got married. Police suspect the duo decided to eliminate the victim woman, so that they can continue their relationship without any impediment.
Investigators allege the murder conspiracy was planned at Rajni’s rented accommodation, which later turned into the scene of crime. On the day of the incident, Ankit allegedly brought his wife to Rajni’s rented accommodation, where they shot her dead.
If the police are to be believed, they are treating the case as a carefully orchestrated murder and are probing the case from all angles.
Firearm purchased from UP
The police went on to inform that the firearm allegedly used to shoot the woman dead was purchased from Uttar Pradesh two months before the incident. Cops suspect the weapon was procured specifically for the crime, and efforts are being made to seize the firearm.
Accused held while trying to flee to Nepal
In the aftermath of the murder, Ankit and Rajni allegedly travelled to Haridwar, from where they were trying to cross into Nepal to evade arrest.
The duo, as per police, remained there till June 30 before returning to India. After police received specific inputs, the Crime branch sleuths traced their locations and arrested them in Manesar.

The accused were produced before a court, which has remanded them to five days of police custody. The police said the accused are being interrogated at present, besides efforts to recover the firearm used in the crime. They added that they are also trying to piece together the sequence of events and gather additional evidence to strengthen the case.
