Ghaziabad woman kills live-in partner with her sister’s help; tries to stage it as suicide, both held

Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad Police on Tuesday laid hands on two women, one of whom was accused of killing her live-in partner with the help of her sister, the second accused, the police said. According to police, the accused duo tried to pass off the murder as suicide, but the conspiracy was short lived. Police claimed that the accused planned the killing after suspecting the man of harbouring malafide intentions towards the teenage daughter of the key accused.

The incident unfolded on June 23 in Tronica City, leaving the area in shock and disbelief. According to police, the incident was a premeditated one and the sisters carefully tried to mislead cops by fabricating a suicide scene inside the rented house, where the victim man lived with the woman and her children.

Murder was planned in advance

The accused have been identified as Kiran, and her sister, Kashish, while the man who was polished off is named Zakir. According to police, the duo decided to execute the crime on the morning of June 23.

As per police probe, Kiran first struck Zakir on his head with a stick, rendering him unconscious. Following this, both sisters allegedly strangled him using a cloth towel, thereby making the incident appearing to be that of suicide.

The investigating police personnel said the cloth was tied to a ceiling fan, while the fan’s blades had deliberately been bent to support the false narrative. Once the accused staged the scene, Kiran raised an alarm and informed neighbours that Zakir had ended his life by hanging.

According to police, Kiran called up Zakir’s brother by means of his own cell phone, claiming that Zakir had died by suicide. Zakir was later rushed to a hospital in a tempo, where his kin were also told the false narrative.

During interrogation, the cops discovered inconsistencies in the account, prompting an in-depth probe into the incident.

Cops cite alleged motive

Addressing a press conference, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Siddharth Gautam said the accused told the cops they believed Zakir had developed malafide intentions towards Kiran’s daughter aged 13, leading to frequent disputes between them.

The police learnt Kiran and Zakir had known each other for five years, and later moved into a live-in relationship in Tronica City. Kiran’s three children; her daughter and two sons also used to live with the duo.

On the day of the incident, the accused allegedly booked a cab using Zakir’s cell phone and sent the children outside to wait in the vehicle before committing the crime. The cops further said the stick used in the murder was hidden on the roof behind a water tank after the crime.

As per police, the accused duo confessed to committing the murder during sustained interrogation. Legal proceedings have been initiated against them, while the cops continue to gather evidence as part of the case.
