A 70-year-old woman was found murdered inside her home in Ram Nagar area of Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, in a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the locality. Police have detained a man identified as the victim's relative, who is accused of carrying out the killing. According to investigators, the suspect allegedly confessed during questioning, and further investigation into the case is underway.

The deceased has been identified as Phool Samundari (70). Her son serves as a constable in the Uttar Pradesh Police and is currently posted in Sambhal district. After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot, secured the crime scene, and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

Police Allege Robbery Motive Behind the Killing

According to police, the accused, identified as Lillu, allegedly entered the house with the intention of committing robbery. Investigators claim the victim woke up during the attempted theft, following which the suspect allegedly attacked her with a sharp weapon, resulting in her death. Police further stated that the accused allegedly admitted to committing the crime while under the influence of intoxicants. These claims are based on the ongoing investigation and have not yet been tested in court.

Suspect Reportedly Reached Post-Mortem House

In a development that drew investigators' attention, police said the accused later arrived at the post-mortem house. His presence and behaviour reportedly raised suspicion, prompting officers to question him further. Following interrogation, he was taken into custody.
