3 killed after under-construction wall collapses in Jaipur; rescue teams continue efforts to retrieve trapped labourers
An infrastructural mishap unfolded in Jaipur on Monday, after an under-construction wall collapsed in the city’s Tala Mod area, killing three people and trapping several other people beneath the rubble. The rescue teams plunged into action quickly and emergency response teams rushed to the scene to search for survivors.
Authorities said the collapse occurred at a construction site, triggering panic among workers and locals. The injured people were rescued from the scene and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, while officials are continuing to assess the scale of the tragedy.
3 confirmed dead, rescue efforts on
Jaipur Rural’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Hanuman Prasad Meena said three people lost their lives in the incident. He said, “Three persons died after a wall collapsed in the Chandwaji area’s Tala Mod in the state capital. Those injured have been admitted to the hospital.”
Rescue personnel, accompanied by the local police and disaster response teams, are present at the site amid fears that several labourers could still be trapped under the collapsed structure. Heavy machinery has been deployed to remove the rubble carefully as officials race against time to locate anyone who may still be buried beneath the debris.
Meanwhile, the authorities have not been able to confirm the number of workers present at the scene when the wall gave way. Further details regarding the cause of the collapse are expected after the rescue operation comes to an end.
Probe expected after rescue operation ends
Officials are expected to launch an in-depth probe to determine the circumstances that led to the collapse. The structural safety standards, as well as compliance with construction regulations are also likely to be scrutinised as authorities examine whether negligence was involved in the incident.
The district administration officials have urged the commoners to stay away from the accident sites, so that rescue teams can carry out operations without obstruction.
