Industrial cooperation between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh is set to receive a major boost, with Arvind Limited planning investments across three locations in Madhya Pradesh that are expected to create fresh employment opportunities for thousands of young people.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav held discussions with Kulin Lalbhai, Vice Chairman of Arvind Limited, during his visit to Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Following the meeting, CM Dr Yadav said the company’s expansion in Madhya Pradesh would further strengthen economic ties between the two states while creating new avenues of employment.

The company plans to establish industrial units at Barlai near Dewas, the PM MITRA Park in Dhar and Betma in Indore. Production at the PM MITRA Park is targeted to begin by next year, in line with Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi’s vision for the integrated textile park.

₹1,200 crore investment planned at PM MITRA Park

Arvind Limited has proposed an investment of around ₹1,200 crore at the PM MITRA Park, for which 105 acres of land has been allotted to the company.

The Chief Minister discussed ways to expedite the establishment of the unit and the investment process. The meeting also covered the early completion of the application process under the Cabinet Committee on Investment Promotion (CCIP), along with speedy scrutiny and approval of the proposal at the government level.

The company currently manufactures around seven million garments annually under its agreement with Peppcon Private Limited, which operates in Indore.

CM Dr Yadav was also briefed on investment incentives available to textile and apparel industries, including capital subsidies, interest subsidies, reimbursement of stamp duty and registration charges, and support for green industrialisation and research and development facilities.

5,000 jobs expected in garment sector

The Chief Minister said cooperation with Gujarat would not only deepen relations between the two states but also generate employment and strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s economy.

He said the expansion of industrial activity would benefit young people through new job opportunities while increased tax revenues from businesses would provide additional resources for the state’s development.

With support from Gujarat, around 5,000 people in Madhya Pradesh are expected to secure employment in the garment sector. Yadav congratulated Arvind Group on the initiative and expressed confidence that its expansion would accelerate industrial growth in the state.

Focus on water recycling and circular economy

The meeting also explored the use of Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) solutions to promote water reuse in industrial areas.

Madhya Pradesh is developing more than 90 industrial parks, and discussions were held on establishing common ZLD systems in textile, pharmaceutical and other industrial clusters. Another proposal involved connecting industrial parks with sewage treatment plants (STPs) operated by nearby municipal corporations to develop a ‘circular water economy’ model.

Modern communication network planned for Simhastha 2028

The potential use of mission-critical communication networks during Simhastha 2028 was also discussed.

Arya Omnitalk Solutions, a joint venture between Arvind Limited and JM Baxi Group, provides mission-critical wireless communication, walkie-talkie networks, PMRT and public safety communication solutions.

The meeting considered deploying such systems for police and security forces, disaster management, healthcare services and event management during Simhastha 2028.

Invitation to GIS-2027

CM Dr Yadav invited Lalbhai to invest further in Madhya Pradesh and participate in the Global Investors Summit (GIS)-2027.

Arvind Limited, established in 1931 and headquartered in Ahmedabad, is among India’s major textile groups. It operates across denim, apparel, fabrics and the wider textile value chain. More than 60,000 people are employed across its various industrial units, while the group procures raw material from over one lakh cotton farmers.

Senior Madhya Pradesh officials, including Additional Chief Secretary, Industries, Neeraj Mandloi, Secretary, Industries, John Kinsley, and MPIDC Managing Director Chandramouli Shukla, were present during the discussions.
