Vishal Chaturvedi’s spiritual saga Hanuman Ansh continues to be a money-minting affair at the box office, cementing its position in theatres more than six weeks after its release. The film has maintained a strong momentum despite completing 43 days at the ticket window and is now closing on the Rs 350 mark in terms of worldwide gross collections.

Hanuman Ansh Day 43 collection

As per Sacnilk, the film minted Rs 5 crore net in India on Day 43, September 18. The film received as many as 6462 screenings and posted an overall occupancy of 18.72%. Following its latest day’s openings, the film’s total India net collection has surged to Rs 248.38 crore. Its India gross collection currently stands at Rs 293.30 crore. 

The movie also continued to perform steadily in overseas markets, as it added Rs 1.25 crore to its overseas collections on Day 43. With this, its cumulative overseas gross has grown to Rs 23 crore. 

Boasting an India gross of Rs 293.30 crore and an overseas gross of Rs 23 crore, the movie's worldwide gross collection has spiked up to Rs 316.30 crore. 

Movie depicts Neem Karoli Baba’s spiritual journey

The Vishal Chaturvedi directorial is set in pre-Independence India, and follows the story of Lakshmi Narayan, who embarks on a search for God after losing his mother. During his spiritual journey, he goes across Northern India where he searches for answers to questions surrounding life, death and human suffering. The journey eventually transforms him into the spiritual leader Neem Karoli Baba, the revered figure whose teachings focused on love, service and compassion. 

Shobhinaw Satya has essayed the role of Neem Karoli Baba, while Vihaan Shedge, Chandan K Anand, Purnima Tiwari, Anil Rastogi, Gulshan Pandey and Bhagvandas Patel also feature in the spiritual drama. 

The film, which was produced on a budget of Rs 2 crore, has amassed considerable attention given its modest production cost. 

Who was Neem Karoli Baba?

The spiritual leader was born around 1900 in a village in Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad district and passed away in 1973. He married at a young age and later turned into a wandering hermit. Over the years, he drew followers from both India and abroad. Some of his devotees include big names such as Julia Roberts, Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma. 

Techies Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg also visited his ashram at Kainchi Dham situated in Uttarakhand, which remains closely associated with his spiritual legacy.
