T20 World Cup final: The Indian Cricket team on Sunday clinched the T20 World Cup 2026 title yet again, defeating New Zealand national cricket team by a commanding 96 runs in the final. The summit clash was played at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, where a packed crowd witnessed India lift their third T20 World Cup trophy under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav.

With this triumph, India not only secured their third title but also became the first team in history to successfully defend a T20 World Cup crown.

Decisive moments seal India’s victory

India delivered a clinical performance throughout the final, dominating both with the bat and the ball. The match reached its decisive moment when Abhishek Sharma claimed the final wicket, bringing the New Zealand innings to an end. Moments earlier, Tilak Varma had taken a stunning catch at long-on, effectively crushing the Black Caps’ last hopes of a comeback.

As the final wicket fell, the stadium erupted in celebration, with Indian players and thousands of fans rejoicing in a historic victory.

India dominate the tournament

Throughout the T20 World Cup 2026, India displayed remarkable consistency and dominance. Facing several high-pressure encounters during the tournament, the team maintained its winning momentum and eventually outclassed New Zealand in the final with a massive margin.

Under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership, the side struck a perfect balance between aggressive batting and disciplined bowling, a combination that proved decisive in their journey to the title.

NZ made single change in Playing XI

Ahead of the final, New Zealand made one change to their playing XI from the previous match. Captain Mitchell Santner brought in pacer Jacob Duffy, replacing Cole McConchie.

India, meanwhile, retained their unchanged playing XI, backing the same combination that helped them reach the final.
