UPSC CSE 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday announced the results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, and has recommended as many as 958 candidates for appointment to services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS).
The recommendations, as per the commission, are based on the performance of the candidates in the written examination held in August 2025, followed by the interview round conducted between December 2025 and February 2026.

Commission releases merit list
Alongside results, the commission also released the list of successful candidates in the merit order. Apart from the top civil services, candidates have also been recommended for appointment to Central Services in Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B.’
Appointments to the aforementioned services will depend on the available number of vacancies, in accordance with the rules governing the Civil Services Examination.
Category-wise break-up of recommended candidates
As per the data provided by UPSC, the 958 recommended candidates include:
- General Category: 317 candidates
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 104 candidates
- Other Backward Classes (OBC): 306 candidates
- Scheduled Tribes (ST): 73 candidates
Furthermore, the commission clarified that the candidature of 348 examinees has been kept provisional, pending verification of eligibility criteria and the completion of the documentation process.
1087 vacancies to be filled through the process
The UPSC authorities said that as many as 1,087 vacancies are to be filled through the examination process, which include:
- 180 posts in IAS
- 55 posts in IFS
- 150 posts in IPS

Additionally, 507 posts are available in Central Services Group ‘A’, while 195 positions fall under Group ‘B’ services. The vacancies include 446 for General category candidates, 104 for EWS, 306 for OBC, 158 for SC and 73 for ST candidates. Meanwhile, 42 posts have been reserved for PwBD candidates.

- Click on the link which reads ‘UPSC CSE Result 2026’ located on the homepage.
- Enter the login credentials and submit the details to view the result.
- Download the scorecard and keep a hard copy of the same for future references.
