A man allegedly made away with the slippers of a Naib Tehsildar, who had arrived at the revered Baglamukhi temple in the district’s Nalkheda town on Monday noon to pay obeisance to Goddess Baglamukhi.

Accused actively participated in religious rituals at the temple

According to the police, Naib Tehsildar Arun Chandravanshi had arrived at the temple on Monday afternoon, at around 3:!5 pm. When he returned after offering prayers, he found his slippers missing. He informed the temple authorities, who sifted through the CCTV footage, and discovered a man making away with them at around 3:20 pm. The accused was identified as Pawan, a resident of Ayodhya Basti in Nalkheda.

The temple authorities summoned Pawan for questioning, who admitted to taking the slippers. The authorities maintained that while Pawan actively used to participate in religious rituals and hawans (sacrificial fire) ceremonies at the temple, he is not a registered priest.

Chandravanshi approaches SP; complaint application goes viral

Later, Chandravanshi approached the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Agar Malwa and submitted a written complaint to him, in which he expressed concern over rising incidents of theft involving footwear and valuables on the temple premises. He mentioned in the complaint that such instances inflict harm on the sentiments of the devotees and also tarnish the sanctity of the shrine. Since then, a picture of the complaint has been making rounds on social media platforms.
