Delhi: Confectioner tied up, cuts inflicted on hands with grinder over monetary dispute; 3 including 2 juveniles held

Confectioner assaulted Delhi: A spine-chilling and brutal incident surfaced from Delhi on Saturday, where a confectioner aged 32 was allegedly tied up, was dragged to a rooftop, and was attacked with a power grinder following a dispute over an unpaid wedding bill, the police said. As per police, the victim has been rushed to the AIIMS hospital, where he is in a critical condition, and three accused, including two juveniles, have been arrested in connection with the case.

Confectioner assaulted Delhi: Victim named Lokesh Gupta

The police said the victim is named Lokesh Gupta, who works as a confectioner and also operates a tent service. He had recently extended services at a wedding hosted by one Ajay Pal on April 20. The total bill amounted to Rs 2.5 lakh, of which Pal owed Rs 2 lakh to Gupta. 

When Gupta approached the client to recover the due, an altercation reportedly broke out, and quickly escalated into a savage assault. 

Gupta dragged to rooftop, attacked with grinder

Police said the accused, along with three of his aides, forcibly took Gupta to the top of the building. “He tied him up and inflicted deep cuts on his hands by means of a power grinder,” a police official aware of the incident said. 

The attack, as per reports, resulted in severe injuries to Gupta’s both forearms, and he bled profusely at the scene. Medical findings and the First Information Report (FIR) filed in the case mentioned deep lacerations, exposed tendons and extension trauma caused by a sharp-edged weapon. 

Gupta critical as of now

Post-incident, Gupta was rushed to a nearby private clinic. However, owing to the grave injuries, he was later shifted to the AIIMS hospital in Delhi, where doctors said he is critical as of now The police confirmed that Gupta’s statement has been recorded, and forensic evidence has also been recovered from the crime scene.

In the aftermath of the incident, the police said they have arrested the key accused, Ajay Pal and two juveniles who aided him in the crime. They added that efforts are on to nab other suspects linked to the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Kushal Pal Singh said that the attack had stemmed from a financial dispute and all the accused shall be subjected to strict action. 

The accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Dabri police station. The police said they are probing the incident at length to piece together the sequence of events.
