Bengaluru Foxconn baby killed: A chilling incident unfolded at a facility run by Foxconn in Bengaluru, as a 19-year-old employee delivered a baby in the office’s washroom, and killed him minutes after, the police reported on Friday. According to police, the accused woman is an operator at the facility located in the city’s Devanahalli, considered as an important assembler for Apple.
As per initial reports, she allegedly gave birth to a premature male child following a seven-month pregnancy on Wednesday, and dumped him in the commode after killing him.

Toilet blockage blows the lid off the incident
The incident came to light when the housekeeping staff discovered a blockage in one of the toilets. Upon inspecting it thoroughly, they found the newborn’s body and alerted the police immediately. The cops from the Vishwanathapura Police rushed to the scene and began a probe.
Preliminary findings suggest that the infant was killed shortly after birth. CCTV footage from the premises aided the cops in identifying the accused, who had gone to the washroom shortly before the incident.

Officials aware of the case said that the delivery was sudden, and that the young woman who is unmarried may have acted out of fear of social stigma.
Following the incident, she contracted a medical infection and was admitted to the hospital, where she is undergoing treatment at present. The police have registered a murder case against her and are awaiting her recovery before proceeding with custody and further interrogation.
Foxconn confirms incident, assures cooperation
Foxconn released a statement after the incident was laid bare and said it is completely coordinating with local authorities. It emphasised that employee welfare remains a top priority and added that additional support is being extended to the employees at the Bengaluru facility.

However, keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, the company refused to share further details on the incident.
Police probe underway
The incident has sparked concerns over workplace welfare and mental health, particularly for young workers navigating personal crises in high-pressure environments. The police said they are probing the case from all angles, including the circumstances under which the delivery transpired and the alleged act.
