Don 3 news: The ongoing dispute surrounding Farhan Akhtar directorial ‘Don 3’ appears to be heading towards a resolution, as Ranveer Singh has reportedly initiated steps to settle differences with the film’s banner, Excel Entertainment. As per reports, Singh has agreed to return his signing fee, which is close to Rs 10 crore.
Additionally, he has proposed offering a stake in his upcoming project, tentatively titled ‘Pralaay.’ The specifics of the deal, however, remain undisclosed as of now.
Don 3 news: Dispute ensued after Singh walked away from the project
Notably, the controversy unfolded after Singh walked away from Don 3, which had been announced in August 2023. Following his exit, reports suggested that Excel Entertainment had been seeking compensation of as much as Rs 40 crore, citing losses incurred during pre-production and scheduling disruptions.
Sources in the industry said that Singh was reportedly dissatisfied with the script and the overall direction of the movie. As tensions escalated, the Producers Guild of India stepped in to mediate between the two sides.
New lead actor’s hunt on for Don 3
With Singh no longer associated with the project, the speculation around the new lead actor for the project has intensified. Hrithik Roshan’s name emerged as one of the contenders for the role, but he has firmly denied any involvement. He also urged media outlets to refrain from propagating unverified information and reports. Amid the chaos, Singh has been riding high on the success of his high-octane spy-thriller, ‘Dhurandhar 2,’ which has also landed him in the spotlight.
What lies ahead for the Don franchise?
Sources added that if the proposed settlement is finalized, it could bring the dispute to a halt, enabling the makers to proceed with the project without further delays. On the professional front, Akhtar is set to portray the role of Ravi Shankar in an upcoming biopic on The Beatles, directed by Sam Mendes. As a producer, his recent ventures include Boong, which drew appreciation at BAFTA 2026, while Mirzapur: The Movie is currently in the works.
He is also said to be working on Jee Le Zaraa, featuring Kiara Advani and Kareena Kapoor, along with *120 Bahadur.’
