The Kerala Story 2: Actor Sumit Gahlawat, a day after the release of his film, ‘The Kerala Story 2,’ has responded to critics, who are calling the movie a ‘propaganda film.’ In an interview with the Free Press Journal, he said, “Sabko haq hai bolne ka individually. Main bhi kayi chize bolta hu, woh shayadse kisi aur ko pasand naa aaye. As an actor, woh thoda bura lagta hai, baaki jo jiska mann kare woh bole.” (Everyone has the right to voice his/her opinion. Even I say several things, which someone may not admire. As an actor, it feels bad when critics pay less heed to actors and acting. Other than that, anyone can say anything they like).

“A lot of hard work has been invested in the film”: Gahlawat
During the interview, Gahlawat said that after a film’s release, what hurts is that the spotlight shifts away from the craft. “A lot of hard work has been invested into the film, and it feels better as an actor when people talk about acting,” he added.

Notably, the controversy surrounding ‘The Kerala Story 2’ grew after the film’s trailer was released. It drew sharp reactions from various quarters, who feel that deceptive marriages and forced religious conversions portrayed in the movie are misleading, and show Kerala in a negative light.
