Asha Bhosle dies: Legendary singer Asha Bhosle has passed away at the age of 92 on Sunday following a cardiac arrest and respiratory complications. Her son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news on Sunday afternoon, and her family said her last rites will be conducted on Monday.

Vocalist was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital
Notably, the iconic vocalist had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday night after her health deteriorated. As per sources, she was unwell for several months, and was brought to the hospital in a critical condition. She breathed her last at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
Bhosle, the younger sister of legendary playback singer late Lata Mangeshkar, boasted a career spanning over eight decades, during which she recorded more than 12,500 songs across multiple languages. She lent her voice to leading actresses such as Meena Kumar and Madhubala to Kajol and Urmila Matondkar. Some of her critically-acclaimed works include Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar, Dil Cheez Kya Hai, Piya Tu Ab to Aaja and In Aankhon Ki Masti.
Notably, in 2023, she celebrated her 90th birthday with a special live performance titled ‘ASHA@90: Live in Concert’ in Dubai, enthralling audiences worldwide.
Two National awards, Dadasaheb Phalke award in her name
Over the years, the 92-year-old singer received numerous accolades, including two National Film Awards for the Best Female Playback Singer. The prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award was also conferred on her for her outstanding contribution to Indian music.

Hours after she was hospitalised, Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi also expressed concern over the singer’s health and wished her a speedy recovery. His statement posted on ‘X’ read, “Deeply concerned to hear that Asha Bhosle Ji has been admitted to hospital. Praying for her good health and a speedy recovery.”
