UP man murdered in Dwarka: A 22-year-old man in Gujarat’s Dwarka allegedly murdered his friend over a monetary dispute, and then attempted to pass it off as suicide, the police reported on Thursday. As per police, the accused has been arrested after they received a complaint from the victim’s kin.

The police said that the victim, Santosh Gwala, hailed from Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh. He, as learnt by the police, was working as a driver with a private firm in Gujarat. He was friends with one Ramnaresh Saket.
Saket, a few days ago, called up Gwala’s elder brother, Ramshakal, and informed him that Santosh intended to leave his job in Dwarka. He added that Santosh was seeking alternative work.
On April 6, Saket called up Ramshakal again, and told him that he had gone for a walk with Santosh along a lake after breakfast, when Santosh dived into the water body to die by suicide. He claimed that despite his efforts, Santosh could not be saved.

Ramshakal, however, grew suspicious upon hearing Saket’s account. He then travelled to Dwarka from Rajkot along with his employer to confront Saket. Unsatisfied with his responses, he approached the police and lodged a complaint.
The police detained Saket for questioning, and during sustained interrogation, he confessed to murdering Santosh. He said that the duo had gone to a lake near a village with snacks and water. A dispute ensued between the two, when Santosh asked Saket for money to cover the expenses.

In a fit of rage, Saket pushed Santosh into the lake and then pelted stones at him, so that he could not escape. The police said the duo had a history of arguments over money, which ultimately culminated in Santosh’s murder. After the disclosure, the fire and rescue teams were deployed to the site, who managed to retrieve his body from the lake after extensive efforts. The Dwarka police arrested Saket and are interrogating him at present to complete legal procedures in the case.
