MP Cabinet approves construction of Rs 945 cr road for Simhastha, boosts DA and youth training schemes

MP Cabinet 2026: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister (CM) Dr Mohan Yadav, gave nod to a series of key decisions on Monday, including a major infrastructure project for the upcoming Simhastha Mela and relief measures for government employees and youth.

At the meeting chaired in Bhopal, the Cabinet sanctioned the construction of a 5.5-kilometre-long road for Simhastha preparations. The project’s estimated outlay is Rs 945 crore, which aims to boost connectivity and manage the anticipated high influx of pilgrims during the grand religious congregation.

MSME Minister Chaitanya Kashyap briefed the media-persons on the decisions taken during the meeting.

MP Cabinet 2026: PwD projects worth Rs 4525 crore approved

The Cabinet also approved the continuation of multiple projects led by the Public Works Department (PwD), valued at close to Rs 4525 crore. Additionally, the minister held discussions regarding the current gas supply situation. Officials confirmed that the gas supply is adequate across the state. The Collectors of all the districts were directed to ensure proper management and monitoring. 

Irrigation infrastructure ramped up too

The Cabinet, in a big move to ramp up the irrigation infrastructure, cleared a Rs 228 crore project in Rewa district. Additionally, it also reviewed preparations for the upcoming summer season and announced the relaunch of the ‘Jal Gaga Sanvardhan Abhiyan.’ Plans were also discussed for organising a ‘Jal Mahotsav’ as part of broader water conservation efforts.

MP Cabinet 2026: Govt employees receive 3% DA hike

Amid rising inflation, the Cabinet again approved a 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for lakhs of government employees. The decision is expected to enhance salaries and provide financial respite. 

OBC youth to receive free training

In another notable step aiming towards empowerment of youth, the government cleared a free 45-day-training programme for the candidates belonging to Other Backward Class (OBC) who have passed Class 12. The initiative’s goal is to prepare participants for recruitment into the armed forces, paramilitary services, Home Guards and police. Notably, the training will be conducted across all 10 divisional headquarters in the state. 

Development and welfare under focus

The Cabinet, towards the end, approved a bonus of Rs 40 per quintal on wheat and reviewed the state’s financial management. It extended gratitude towards the Centre for improved connectivity linking Madhya Pradesh to the Delhi-Mumbai expressway.
