Dhurandhar 2 box office: Ranveer Singh-starrer high-octane spy thriller Dhurandhar 2 received a thunderous start on its opening day, Thursday. The film shattered box office records by minting as much as Rs 100 crore on its first day of theatrical release. The movie opened to unprecedented numbers, fuelled by massive anticipation and extensive advance bookings. 

Film scripts history with 10k premiere shows

The Aditya Dhar directorial began its theatrical run with paid previews on Wednesday, and released worldwide on Thursday. Even before its official release, the film scripted history with close to 10,000 premiere shows, which are the largest ever for a Bollywood movie. 

Dhurandhar 2 box office: Paid previews alone amount to Rs 44 crore

As per statistics, the Dhurandhar sequel grossed an impressive Rs 44 crore from paid previews alone. Early estimates suggest that it added another Rs 60-70 crore on its first full day, steering it comfortably towards the Rs 100 crore milestone. The first instalment of the franchise had minted Rs 1300 crore globally, and since then, the buzz surrounding the film had been brewing for months. The sequel, despite suffering minor glitches, managed to seal the biggest worldwide Bollywood opening through advance bookings alone. 

Project backed by Jio Studios, boasts star-studded cast

The film sees the return of an ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt, with Ranveer reprising his role as Jaskirat Singh Rangi alias Hamza Ali Mazari. The project is backed by Jio Studios and B62 studios, and sees a cameo by actress Yami Gautam. 

Viewers express disappointment over Akshaye Khanna’s absence

Both fans and critics have commended Ranveer Singh’s performance, with many terming it transformative. However, a section of viewers was disappointed over Akshaye Khanna’s absence, whose character in the prequel had garnered widespread applause and acclaim. 

According to industry experts, the film’s roaring start could set new benchmarks for box office in the months coming ahead.
