Entertainment news: Veteran Bollywood actress Madhu Malhotra, who gained critical acclaim for featuring in popular films of the late 1970s and 1980s, passed away in Mumbai on Friday at the age of 72.
After the news of her demise emerged, tributes began pouring in from the film fraternity and her fans, many of whom posted condolence messages on social media. They also mentioned her contributions to the Hindi film industry.
Malhotra appeared in 100+ films
Malhotra’s career spanned several decades, during which she featured in more than 100 movies. Although she was not in the spotlight always, her performances across a range of mainstream productions made her a household name. She was quite active during the 1970s and 1980s, during which she essayed numerous supporting and lead roles.

Malhotra made one of her most memorable appearances in the iconic Hindi song, ‘Lambi Judaai’ from the Subhash Ghai directorial Hero. The song was sung by legendary folk singer Reshma, and remains one of the most recognisable tracks of the film till date.

Throughout her career, Malhotra was seen in several notable movies, such as Satte Pe Satta, Karz, Vishwanath, Rishta Kagaz Ka and Qayamat. While she may not always have been a headline star, her consistent presence on the big screens ensured she remained an integral part of the cinematic landscape of her era.
